Mark Stockman’s practice is primarily devoted to real estate and construction transactions. He has represented property owners and real estate developers in connection with buying, selling, leasing, constructing, and developing commercial and residential properties.
A large portion of Mr. Stockman’s practice is developed to the representation of developers involved in the construction of common-interest residential and mixed-use communities. He has extensive experience in resolving the issues that arise during such projects, including the preparation of condominium and homeowner’s association documents and reciprocal easement agreements, and has counseled clients through projects presenting unique challenges such as significant environmental restrictions and historic preservation façade and development restrictions.
Mr. Stockman is also a registered architect and practiced architecture for 10 years. His architectural practice focused primarily on the adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of historic structures. His practice also included significant work for public entities and school boards throughout
He has represented the interests of owners, tenants, buyers, sellers, and contractors. He has negotiated and prepared purchase and sales agreements, and leases for retail, office, and industrial properties. He has significant experience representing owners and developers in construction matters, including the negotiation of construction and design agreements, and addressing the multitude of issues that arise during construction. He has represented owner’s interests in the resolution of construction disputes including contractual disputes, payment claims, defect claims, building code and zoning matters.
Previously, Mr. Stockman served as Associate General Counsel for a large local developer of condominiums, cluster homes, shopping centers, and office buildings. Currently he is a member of the Cleveland and Ohio State Bar Associations, the Construction Law Forum of the American Bar Association, and has served as chairman of the City of
