Elijah J. Hammans
ELIJAH HAMMANS is a partner in Taft’s Indianapolis and Chicago offices and chair of the firm’s Private Equity group. His practice is focused on representing private equity funds and other equity sponsors in connection with the acquisition, recapitalization and sale of their portfolio companies. Elijah is also regularly involved in strategic merger and acquisition activity, securities offerings and venture capital transactions.
Elijah began his career at Fried Frank in New York, where he gained experience in private equity and capital markets transactions. Subsequently, Elijah joined the Chicago office of McDermott Will & Emery, where he was partner in the firm’s corporate advisory group.
Elijah received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School. While in law school, he was an associate editor of the New York Law School Law Review, and he also interned for the office of President William J. Clinton and the Honorable Louis B. York.
Elijah is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois, and his admission to Indiana is pending.
