MATTHEW FAIR is of counsel in Taft’s Indianapolis office and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property group. He has more than 15 years of legal experience in the intellectual property field and concentrates his practice in the area of patent preparation and prosecution in U.S. and foreign jurisdictions along with other areas of intellectual property protection, including patent infringement analysis and opinions, trademark prosecution, copyright procurement and trade secret protection.
Matt has routinely provided strategic advice, counseling, freedom to operate analysis and contract assistance to senior leaders in corporate environments. He has led development/project teams to establish proper IP asset protection while providing hands-on design analysis and guidance. Matt has also provided intellectual property support in due diligence investigations for mergers, acquisitions and divestitures for company entities. He has negotiated and managed U.S. government contracts, university license agreements and other commercial contracts in the corporate setting. Matt has been trained in Six Sigma process improvement techniques.
Prior to private practice, Matt spent a combined 11 years as an engineer at major aerospace and automotive corporations. His work experience includes project management, component design, experimental testing, product development, analytical analysis, and manufacturing for various vehicles, engines, systems and components.
