Ann O'Connor McCready
ANN O’CONNOR MCCREADY is an associate in Taft’s Indianapolis office and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Environmental groups. She focuses her practice on insurance coverage litigation, including disputes stemming from environmental claims. Ann’s litigation experience includes state and federal courts, as well as arbitration and federal appellate work. In addition, her practice includes litigation involving toxic tort and products liability claims for personal injury caused by toxic or hazardous materials. Ann also has experience litigating commercial matters and advising clients regarding contract-related disputes.
Prior to joining private practice in Indianapolis, Ann spent four years as an associate attorney at Tressler LLP in Chicago, where she concentrated her practice in insurance coverage litigation that included representing insurers in complex coverage disputes regarding liability and property coverage. While in Chicago, Ann served on the Leadership Committee of the Women Employed Advocacy Council, a group of young professionals working to advance the objectives of Women Employed as it strives to expand educational and employment opportunities for working women.
In addition to her legal experience, prior to law school, Ann worked at the strategic communications firm APCO Worldwide in Washington, D.C., where she worked with in-house counsel to manage reputation risk and communication strategies stemming from large-scale litigation.
Ann graduated from George Washington University, magna cum laude, with a degree in journalism and earned her J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While in law school, she was the editor-in-chief of the Federal Communications Law Journal and a law clerk for the Honorable E. Michael Hoff on the Monroe County Circuit Court. Ann has been recognized by her peers for her accomplishments and was named an Illinois Rising Star in 2014 and 2015 and is currently an Indiana Rising Star for insurance coverage. She is also a graduate of the Indiana State Bar Association’s 2016 Leadership Development Academy. Ann currently serves on the Integrating Woman Leaders Foundation’s 2017 Indianapolis Conference Committee and is a member of the Children's Bureau, Inc. Young Professionals Advisory Board.
