RICHARD E. STANLEY, JR. is of counsel in Taft’s Indianapolis office and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation groups. His practice includes patent prosecution and litigation in the mechanical and electrical arts.

Rich’s patent prosecution practice includes drafting patent applications, infringement and validity opinions, and post-grant proceedings. He has experience in a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, turbine engines, industrial tools, construction equipment, semiconductors, carbon-carbon brake disks and numerous other technologies.

Rich’s patent litigation practice has involved representing plaintiffs and defendants in all stages of litigation: pre-suit investigations, formal discovery, motion practice and settlement.

Prior to private practice, Rich was an engineer for seven years with a large agricultural equipment manufacturer. He earned his J.D. from Baylor University, his M.B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and his B.S. in mechanical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
