Taft Attorney Shimp Elected Director of Communications, Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association
July 22, 2008
Dayton, OH, July 22, 2008 – Tedd J. Shimp, an attorney in the Dayton office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, was recently elected Director of Communications of the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association (DADCA). DADCA is a 225-member trade organization focused on federal government contracting in Dayton, Ohio.
“I am excited to be involved in the Dayton defense community during this period of historic growth at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” said Shimp. “It is a welcome bright spot in Dayton's economic future. Also, this appointment fits with my experience as a former Air Force attorney, with decades of government contract law knowledge.”
During Shimp’s one-year term, he will focus the organization on growth issues related to DADCA and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Shimp’s goal is to continue building internal and external communications with the defense contractor community. Additionally, he is heading up the www.DaytonDefenseCareers.com jobs website to support the defense community's need for personnel with Department of Defense experience. “The Dayton region has been hit hard recently, with the demise of Delco and the DHL facility,” continued Shimp. “Wright-Patterson is one of the few growth areas in the region, and DADCA is at the forefront.”
Shimp focuses his practice in government contracts, construction law and litigation. He is experienced in dealing with the Federal Acquisition Regulations, construction, service contracting and manufacturers. Shimp also has significant experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution and litigation. He is a member of the Dayton, Ohio State, American Bar Associations (Section of Public Contract Law), and the Boards of Contract Appeals Association. Shimp has been admitted to the Court of Federal Claims and is also a member of the National Contract Management Association.
