Bautista Published in In-House Defense Quarterly

Taft partner Philip R. Bautista authored the article “Strategies for Deterring and Avoiding Intellectual Property Litigation,” which was published In-House Defense Quarterly’s Summer 2015 issue. In-House Defense Quarterly is published in Chicago by DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar, an international membership organization of more than 22,000 lawyers involved in the defense of civil litigation.

Bautista’s article expands on the steps that businesses need to take to protect their intellectual property outside the United States through registrations and written agreements. These are the primary ways to deter multinational companies’ former foreign business partners from attempting to claim intellectual property ownership in foreign jurisdictions after the termination of the business relationship.

Bautista is a trial lawyer with extensive first-chair litigation and trial experience. Having a background in science, he has litigated numerous cases throughout the United States involving trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets. Bautista also has extensive experience in litigation involving technology and cybersecurity matters, as well as product liability, engineering, and construction matters.
