Taft attorneys Arthur McMahon, III and Caitlin M. Felvus, working as volunteers for Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio, assisted in the creation of Healthy Homes Block by Block (Healthy Homes), a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for Santa Maria Community Services.

Healthy Homes is an innovative community outreach program of Santa Maria Community Services that reaches residents directly in their neighborhoods in the Price Hill area of Cincinnati. Since 2013, Healthy Homes has been building a neighborhood-based network that engages community members to perform door-to-door personal outreach to households with children under the age of six and pregnant women to address some of the systemic poverty and health issues that are so challenging to overcome. They engage local residents to talk with at-risk individuals at their doorstep, connecting them with critical resources and removing the barrier and stigma of using these resources. Healthy Homes utilizes several data tools to track participants’ progress and the outcomes of the program. The program has been so successful that it will be replicated in other neighborhoods and communities in Cincinnati. This new 501(c)(3) will address poverty and health issues at the grassroots level to multiple neighborhoods in Cincinnati outside of the Santa Maria Community.

McMahon is a partner in the firm’s Business & Finance group who advises boards of directors and senior management of public companies on corporate governance and securities matters, including internal and governmental investigations, accounting restatements, FCPA and other anti-corruption matters, major business combinations and compliance with SEC and stock exchange requirements. Felvus is an associate in Taft’s Business & Finance group who counsels businesses on a broad range of corporate and legal concerns.
