Meister Article Probes Ohio HB 27

Julia B. Meister was a contributing author in the Probate Law Journal of Ohio, March/April 2011 issue.  The topic of her analysis is the, “Transfer of Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act Introduced in Ohio as HB 27.”  Ms. Meister’s article begins on page 137 of the Journal.

Per Ms. Meister, the Act will provide uniformity and reduce conflicts among the states.  Widespread passage of the Act should result in significant judicial economy, reduction in litigation, and conservation of the ward’s estate.

At Taft, Ms. Meister counsels clients and represents them in commercial and estate, guardianship, trust and fiduciary matters and professional ethics and discipline matters before courts, administrative tribunals, and arbitrators. She advises clients on a variety of health law issues and represents health care clients in disciplinary proceedings and investigations before licensing boards and professional societies. She has published numerous articles in the Ohio Probate Law Journal and recently served on the Ohio Supreme Court’s Summit on Aging Planning Committee, raising awareness of financial and other forms of elder abuse.
