Taft is seeking a paralegal to support our Real Estate practice group in Taft’s Minneapolis office.
We are seeking a paralegal with substantive title and survey experience to support our Real Estate team in our Minneapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze Commercial Title Commitments.
- Review and analyze deeds, easements, covenants, restrictions and other recorded documents for due diligence on sophisticated commercial transactions.
- Order, research, review and summarize public records searches (tax liens, UCC, judgment, bankruptcy, litigation).
- Review and analyze ALTA surveys, boundary surveys, plats, GIS mapping and tax records in conjunction with acquisitions, dispositions, development and/or financing of commercial real property.
- Manage the Title and Survey review process for a transaction and prepare Title and Survey Review and Objection Memoranda.
- Coordinate with the title company to review and refine proforma title policies prepared by the title company.
- Prepare escrow instructions for the applicable title company.
- Research municipal records for zoning, permit, and other land use reviews; order and review zoning reports.
- Draft easements, deeds, affidavits and other title-related documents.
- Assist in other due diligence activities for real estate transactions.
Requirements:
- 3+ years substantive experience consistent with the duties and responsibilities above.
- Paralegal degree/certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to adapt to workplace stressors and competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
