PWRG Breakfast Forum Series - February 6, 2013

Taft’s Professional Women’s Resource Group is very pleased to have Sr. Joanne Schuster, congregational councilor for the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, as our guest speaker for this event.

Sr. Joanne Schuster entered the Order of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in 1966. She began an extensive study of the Sisters’ hospitals in 1980 and was appointed president of the newly formed Franciscan Sisters of the Poor Health System in 1983. While serving as president of the Health System, she also began several new initiatives. In 1986, she founded the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor National Foundation where she served as president, and in 1994, she founded the Franciscan Wholistic Center where she served as a consultant on organizational development.

Sr. Joanne earned her doctorate in 1997, and she has studied alternative medicine and wholistic healing in Brazil and China, in addition to the practice/art of Shamanism. A recipient of the Blessed Frances Schervier Medal, she was named one of the Outstanding Women in Cincinnati in 1998.
