Taft Attorneys Gildner and Hansen to Speak at Seminar, "Compensation Strategies in Closely-Held Companies"
Lance A. Gildner and Chad D. Hansen, attorneys in the Dayton office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, will speak at an October 29 seminar. “Compensation Strategies in Closely-Held Companies” targets compensating owners and employees in closely held businesses.
The seminar will focus on several key points in structuring compensation arrangements, including:
- Self-employment tax strategies for S Corporations
- Determining “reasonable compensation”
- Overview of IRS audit procedures
- Minimizing audit risks and exposure
- Self-employment tax strategies in partnerships
- Bifurcating partnership interests into separate management and investment units
A partner in the Dayton office, Gildner focuses his practice in tax law. He deals extensively with federal and state tax issues for partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, for-profit and nonprofit entities as well as individuals. Gildner is a member of the Dayton, Ohio State and American Bar Associations, the American Bar Association Taxation Section and chair of the Dayton Bar Association Business and Tax Law Committee.
Hansen is an attorney in the firm’s Cincinnati and Dayton offices. His practice primarily centers on advising individuals and closely-held businesses concerning business and tax issues. Hansen has served on various committees of local and national bar associations, including chairing the Dayton Bar Association’s Business Law and Taxation Committee.
