Barnard and Burke Named to NLJ's 2015 List of Energy & Environmental Trailblazers
Taft attorneys Thomas A. Barnard and Kim K. Burke have been named to the National Law Journal’s 2015 list of Energy & Environmental Trailblazers.
Barnard is a partner in Taft’s Environmental and Litigation groups. He has substantial experience in complex litigation, particularly involving environmental, insurance coverage, takings and securities issues. For over 26 years, he has represented clients in federal and state courts from Indiana to Washington, D.C. Barnard was the primary drafter of Indiana's Environmental Audit Privilege law, and when the bill passed in 1996, Indiana became only the second state in the country to provide litigation protection for companies conducting compliance audits.
Burke is a partner in Taft’s Environmental group and concentrates his practice in a variety of environmental law areas, including Superfund defense and negotiation, regulatory enforcement, development and implementation of hazardous substance remedial investigation and corrective measure plans, defense of toxic tort and other civil and criminal claims, real estate transfers, acquisitions and divestitures, government funding, including stimulus and brownfields, environmental insurance litigation, environmental permits and administrative proceedings before state and federal environmental agencies.
