Colom Selected to Join American College of Real Estate Lawyers

Taft partner Kiamesha Colom has been selected as a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). Members are notable real property law practitioners with an outstanding reputation for ethical conduct and excellence. Lawyers are chosen by invitation only after undergoing an extensive screening process. Colom is one of seven Indiana members and the first female selected for Indiana, joining Taft attorneys Jeff Abrams, Norman Newman, and Jim Schwarz on the state list. Taft attorney Cyndi Stovall of the Denver office was also selected for the ACREL Colorado state list.

ACREL is the premier national association of influential commercial real estate lawyers focused on exemplary service to clients, colleagues, and the legal industry. Admission is by invitation only after a rigorous screening process.

Colom serves as the Real Estate practice group lead for Taft’s Indianapolis office, where she leads a core group of 15 attorneys and a paralegal. Her practice is focused in the areas of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, sale leaseback transactions, real estate municipality work, real estate/construction lending and commercial finance transactions, and related business transactions.

Colom helps developers, corporate real estate departments, municipalities, tenants, and landlords achieve their real estate and financing goals related to a variety of real estate projects, from cradle to grave, by drafting and negotiating lease, purchase, sale, development and loan documents, and she takes great pride in ultimately getting the deal done.

Colom has closed numerous conventional and government guaranteed (SBA/USDA) commercial loans for commercial lenders and borrowers related to real estate, construction, equipment, machinery, and C&I lending through line of credit and term loan credit facilities. She has experience with both bilateral and syndicated loan transactions and construction loans. Additionally, she has assisted banks with recovery, liquidation, and the government guaranteed purchasing process.

Colom also assists minority, women, veteran, and disabled owned businesses with attaining state and city certifications.
