Hoffheimer, Taft Partner, Honored with Cincinnati Bar Association's Trustee Award

Cincinnati, OH, May 29, 2008 – Daniel J. Hoffheimer, a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, was presented with the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Trustee Award. Since its inception in 1989, the Trustees’ Award is presented to a CBA attorney member or members for outstanding service to the Cincinnati Bar Association, the legal profession and/or the general community. The recipient must display a high level of commitment, dedication or courage. The award recipients are selected by the CBA Awards Committee.

“This is such a prestigious and well-deserved honor for Dan,” said Melvin S. Shotten, fellow partner at Taft and president of the Cincinnati Bar Foundation, the CBA’s charitable arm. “I’m pleased he has been recognized for his longtime service to the CBA, commitment to the legal profession, as well as his ongoing support to the Cincinnati community.” Hoffheimer also serves on the boards of BRIDGES For A Just Community (formerly the National Conference for Community and Justice), the Cincinnati Bar Foundation, the Federal Bar Association, Cincinnati Chapter, and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

Among many other charitable, educational and nonprofit organizations, Hoffheimer formerly served as Chair of Cincinnati Public Radio (WGUC and WVXU), Chair of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Vice-Chair of The Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, Presiding Co-Chair and co-founder of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. "Indeed," noted Shotten, "there are very few attorneys who have over the years committed so much of themselves, so effectively, to so many local charitable institutions."

“There are few things better than being honored by your peers, the people who know you best,” commented Hoffheimer. “These are the friends who have taught me lessons and associates I’ve worked with for almost a third of a century. It’s a humbling, gratifying experience.”

A former President of the Cincinnati Bar Association, Hoffheimer concentrates his Taft law practice in estate planning, trust and probate law, nonprofit and charitable organizations and foundations, family businesses, elder law and guardianships, estate and gift taxation, charitable giving, and probate court litigation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is Board Certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association Specialty Board.
