Kemp and Sorrell to Present on First Amendment Rights at BASA 2022 Fall Conference
Taft associates Lauren Kemp and Shawna Sorrell will speak at the Buckeye Association of School Administrators’ 2022 Fall Conference on Oct. 4. Kemp and Sorrell will present “Public School Employees and Their First Amendment Rights”, discussing protected speech and the protection and limitations placed on First Amendment rights of teachers.

Kemp is an associate in the Employment and Labor Relations practice group, focusing on workers’ compensation and employment law. She represents clients in matters of accommodation, discrimination (including charges filed with the EEOC and OCRC), retaliation, subrogation, and wrongful discharge. Kemp also serves as outside counsel to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for complex cases, which allows her to provide unique perspectives and creative solutions to employers in difficult cases.
Sorrell advises clients on all aspects of labor and employment law, including hiring and termination, employment agreements, personnel policies, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour issues, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and workers’ compensation.
