Lichterman Named a 2018 "Women in the Law"

Honoring her drive, determination, and passion as an accomplished family law legal professional, partner Susan Lichterman has been named a 2018 “Women in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Chosen from dozens of nominations, the “Women in the Law” are inspiring and accomplished leaders who have shown a commitment to excellence in the practice of law, while also serving as mentors and giving back to their communities.

A luncheon celebrating the Class of 2018 will be held Sept. 20 at the Detroit Marriott Troy. The “Woman of the Year,’ selected by a vote of the class, will be announced at the event.

For almost 30 years, Lichterman has dedicated her career to family law. As a specialist in all aspects of family law, she also contributes as a member of the Litigation group.

Lichterman has served on various charitable and civic boards, including the children’s Center of Wayne County; Congregation Beth Shalom; the Fresh Air Society; and Yad Ezra. She regularly handles pro bono cases and volunteers for the Family Law Assistance Project (FLAP), the Legal Aid Help Desk at the Oakland County Circuit Court and the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. She has also volunteered on numerous judicial campaigns and has successfully served as campaign treasurer for both district court campaigns and circuit court campaigns. Lichterman also serves as a hearing panelist for the Michigan Attorney Disciplinary Board. She has written articles and spoken on various aspects of family law.

Her long-term commitment to family law has garnered her a number of awards and recognitions, including the Crain’s Detroit Business “40 Under 40” Award, the DBusiness Top Lawyer honor and the Best Lawyers in America recognition. Lichterman earned a Juris Doctor degree cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, as well as a master’s and bachelor’s degree, with high honors and distinction, from the University of Michigan.
