Cincinnati, OH, March 12, 2008 – John B. Nalbandian, a partner in the Litigation Department and co-chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in Appellate Law. One of just 11 attorneys in the state, and the only one in Cincinnati to have earned such distinction, this certification makes him one of a very select group of Ohio attorneys. Additionally, this marks the inaugural class of appellate specialists.

To become a certified specialist, an attorney must:

• Demonstrate substantial and continuing involvement in a particular field of law
• Submit references from other lawyers and judges attesting to competency in the specialty area
• Attend intermediate or advanced continuing legal education courses
• Remain in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
• Maintain minimum professional liability insurance coverage
• Pass a written examination in the specialty area.

Attorneys who have earned a specialty certification must be recertified at least every four to seven years and must report annually to the certifying agency. The Ohio State Bar Association is the largest certifying agency in Ohio and is currently accredited to certify specialists in nine areas of law.

A member of the firm’s Appellate Practice, Nalbandian concentrates on appellate and general litigation in state and federal courts around the country. He has represented clients in a wide range of legal areas including antitrust, products liability, intellectual property, employment, white collar crime, and class actions. He also has extensive experience in administrative and international law.

Nalbandian is a member of the Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, and District of Columbia Bars, Ohio State Bar Association, Cincinnati Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky, and the Northern Kentucky Tri-Ed Board of Directors. He also is a member of the Leadership Northern Kentucky Class of 2002. He was selected by Cincinnati Magazine as a 2005, 2006 and 2007 Super Lawyers Rising Star, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Appellate Law.
