Rost and Lavender Featured in ABA’s Landslide Magazine
Taft attorneys Steve Rost and Derek Lavender are featured in the January/February 2019 issue of Landslide, a publication of the American Bar Association’s Section of Intellectual Property. In the article, “Learning from Each Other: An Interview Between Two Generations of IP Attorneys,” Rost and Lavender interview one another about the evolving practice of law, changes in technology, mentoring, working in teams and more. Both attorneys are members of Taft’s Intellectual Property group and work together on several client teams.
Rost is a partner in Taft’s Intellectual Property group and focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution with a technical emphasis in the mechanical and electro-mechanical arts. In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, he also advises clients with respect to others’ intellectual property, including auditing clients’ intellectual property and providing guidance with respect to infringement and technical design around analyses.
Lavender is an associate in Taft’s Intellectual Property group and focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution. He has experience in technologies such as medical devices, material science, electrical control systems, agricultural equipment and hydraulic systems. One of his primary roles at Taft includes developing and managing patent portfolios to ensure efficient and robust protection of intellectual property.
