Rusert Elected to Academy of Certified Trial Lawyers of Minnesota Board of Directors
Taft Minneapolis partner Scott Rusert has been elected to the Academy of Certified Trial Lawyers of Minnesota (ACTLM) Board of Directors. Rusert brings years of trial experience and valuable insight to ACTLM and will support the organization’s mission to develop and foster standards of professionalism in the administration of justice and the art of advocacy.
ACTLM’s purpose is to educate lawyers, judges, and students about all phases of civil and criminal trial practice, particularly as it affects the rights and duties of the public. The organization not only provides practical and legal information relating to trial preparation and trial, but also arranges seminars and educational meetings, sponsors networking events aimed at fostering career growth, and monitors current procedural proposals, becoming involved when necessary. Rusert is a partner in Taft’s Commercial Litigation and Compliance, Investigations, and White Collar Defense practices. He is the current Chair of the state Civil Trial Specialist Certification Board and recent past Chair of the MSBA Civil Litigation Section. In his more than 30 years of practice, Rusert has been lead counsel on matters in state and federal courts in a total of 36 states and tried cases to verdict on behalf of both defendants and plaintiffs in state and federal courts in Minnesota and nationwide. Rusert is also one of the foremost experts in Special Litigation Committee investigations, including having led two different investigations for publicly traded Fortune 500 companies, both of which involved claims of securities laws violations and alleged damages in the billions of dollars.
