Taft Acts as Legal Counsel in $17.8M Broadband Deal with Monongalia County, WV
Taft is pleased to have acted as legal counsel to Monongalia County, WV, in its $17.8 million partnership with Comcast to deliver reliable Internet broadband service to unserved and underserved residents in the county.
Taft collaborated with the county commission to provide local officials with a comprehensive understanding of the county’s connectivity landscape. This included identifying how an internet service provider could best address the county’s specific needs in unserved and underserved areas, as well as promoting digital equity and inclusion, all while maximizing the use of ARPA funds. Taft assisted in vetting potential internet service provider partners and expertly negotiating a broadband infrastructure contract, which resulted in public-private partnership with Comcast to bring its Xfinity fiber network to the region.
