Taft & Hylant Lead NKY Chamber Square Table Series on March 12
Taft privacy and data security attorneys Brian G. Dershaw and Matthew D. Lawless are teaming with L. Spencer Timmel from Hylant Executive Risk Practices for the March 12 Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Employer Solutions Square Table Series. They will address “How is your Company Handling Cyber Security?” from 8-10 a.m. at the chamber’s facility at 300 Buttermilk Pike, Ft. Mitchell, Ky.
Dershaw, Lawless and Timmel will facilitate a discussion on cybersecurity issues that are of particular relevance to human resources departments. Employers – large, medium and small – retain personally identifiable information (PII) on their employees. In the wrong hands, this information can be detrimental to the employee and the company. Employees are also increasingly given access to their employer’s most business-sensitive data on the same devices they use personally, which increases the risk of exposure.
The discussion will educate HR professionals on proactive measures for drafting and enforcing policies and will provide an overview of the following issues:
- What information comprises a company’s PII
- The regulatory framework
- Governance and use of personal devices
- Third parties that may have access to a company’s PII data
- The anatomy of a data breach
- Potential liabilities
