Taft Announces Firm-Wide, Family-Friendly Benefits
Taft Law has announced two industry-leading benefits for all of its employees: 16 weeks of paid parental leave and child and adult back-up care. With this change, both legal and non-legal Taft team members are provided with the same level of benefits.
“It is an exciting time at Taft as we implement new and forward-looking policies. We understand that it can be challenging at times to manage both work and family needs. When life is easier on the home front, it is also easier to have a rewarding and fulfilling career. We’re constantly looking for meaningful ways to advance and support our attorneys and staff,” said Christine L. Birch, Taft’s Chief Operating Officer.
As a leading example of a modern law firm, Taft has implemented several initiatives that position the firm as an employer of choice in each of its markets. These initiatives include a one-class partnership structure that provides more leadership opportunities for women, lawyers of color and young attorneys; implicit bias training programs; and an overnight breast milk delivery service for working mothers. The firm’s Gender Advancement and Diversity & Inclusion Committees have been at the forefront of Taft’s progressive benefits and programs.
Beginning their first day of employment, Taft employees will be offered 16 weeks of paid parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child. This benefit does not use an employee’s accrued personal leave and is available to all Taft employees regardless of marital status, gender or status as the child’s primary or non-primary caregiver.
To support Taft employees and their family needs, Taft and CorporateCARE Solutions—a national network of highly vetted care providers—have partnered to offer an enhanced firm-wide option for child and adult back-up care. This benefit will allow employees to secure same-day care options or care up to 30 days in advance. Back-up care options are available in the employee’s home, in a hotel (if the employee is traveling for firm-related business) or in an adult dependent’s residing city.
Taft has received numerous accolades for its commitment to providing a modern, inclusive and supportive workplace for its attorneys and staff. Since 2017 alone, Taft has been recognized with the Women in Law Empowerment Forum LLC’s Gold Standard Certification and the Ohio Women’s Bar Association’s Family Friendly Award and was ranked one of the top 10 law firms in the “Inclusion Blueprint” survey conducted by Diversity Lab, which assesses workplace policies to advance women in leadership positions.
