Taft Chicago Adds Real Estate and Regulated Industries Attorneys
Taft is pleased to announce that of counsel Matthew “Gavin” McCarty and associate Anabel Abarca have joined the Chicago office in the Regulated Industries and Real Estate Practices.
McCarty has a multi-faceted legal practice focusing on highly regulated industries, such as energy, utilities, and communications. He works closely with his clients to strategize and provide practical legal advice to strengthen the overall governance, compliance, and risk practices of organizations. McCarty’s past experience includes senior roles as general counsel and deputy general counsel of Fortune 500, S&P 500 component, and private companies.
Abarca focuses her practice in the areas of zoning and land use and has experience reviewing real estate and construction agreements, including AIA contracts, development agreements, and planned developments between general contractors and developers. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she clerked for Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Burke and the Board of Elections Commissioners for the City of Chicago.
