Taft Debuts at No. 101 on Am Law List as a Midwest Powerhouse

Taft Law makes its debut at No. 101 on the 2021 Am Law List and is referenced as a “Midwest powerhouse in its first year after a blockbuster merger” in an American Lawyer article regarding the list.

The 2021 Am Law List is one of the most recognized rankings in the legal profession. Firms are ranked based on overall revenue, revenue per lawyer, compensation, profits per lawyer, profitability index, and value per lawyer of the previous year.

Taft’s inclusion on the Am Law List follows a year of strategic growth and strength across the firm. In January 2020, Taft Law expanded into the Twin Cities through its merger with Briggs and Morgan, providing access to a top Midwestern market and gaining 135 highly experienced attorneys. In February 2021, Taft announced its expansion into the Washington, DC market with the addition of public affairs attorneys and lobbyists, who have built strong reputations at the federal, state, and municipal levels.

Taft continues its significant focus on becoming the “modern law firm” through its gender, diversity, and inclusion initiatives as well as its pervasive team-oriented, client-service priorities. In 2020, Taft earned the elite Mansfield Plus certification and was recognized as one of only 60 firms named as “Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Woman magazine. Women and diverse partners comprise 67% of Taft’s executive committee and 54% of its compensation committee. Additionally, 45% of Taft offices are led by women and/or diverse partners.

In addition to its gender, diversity, and inclusion advancements, Taft stays at the forefront of innovation with state-of-the-art technology, flexible working environments, a non-headquarter leadership model, and a one-class partnership structure.
