Taft Minneapolis Partners with Twin Cities Habitat For Humanity on 2024 Carter Work Project
This week, Taft Minneapolis attorneys and staff joined thousands of volunteers and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity at the 38th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, The Heights on St. Paul’s East Side.
According to the Carter Work Project press release, The Heights is a model for sustainable, resilient, affordable housing, with plans to be an all-electric community working toward LEED Platinum Certification, the highest rating given to highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. With 147 units being built, this will be the largest Twin Cities Habitat Humanity project to date.
Taft has represented Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) for nearly 30 years. Taft first became counsel to TCHFH in 2007 and currently provides legal services in real estate transactions, public entity contracts, private equity transactions, mortgage foreclosure, and employment.
Taft Real Estate partner Daniel Van Dyk and other Taft attorneys have represented TCHFH in all major aspects of The Heights project, including site development, land acquisition, tax increment financing, easement and maintenance agreements, financing, and construction.
“We’re incredibly excited and grateful to the Carter Work Project for helping to kick start construction at The Heights, a project that will revitalize and bring sustainable, affordable housing to the community. Taft is honored to be a part of this project and we are so excited to see this vision and hard work become a reality,” said Van Dyk.
