Targan Earns 2018 Midwest Acquirers Association Industry Achievement Award

Recognizing her significant contributions to the merchant bankcard and electronic payments industry, partner Holli Targan recently earned the 2018 Midwest Acquirers Association (MWAA) Industry Achievement Award. According to MWAA, the Industry Achievement Award is a unique tribute given only to individuals worthy of “Hall of Fame’ status.

Targan specializes in payments system law, counseling banks and fintech, merchant acquiring, electronic fund transfer, payment facilitator and money transmitter businesses on contractual and compliance matters. She also handles payment company mergers and acquisitions.

During her 25 years as a leading authority on payment system legal issues, Targan has contributed to multiple nonprofit payment associations by serving on their board of directors, publishing dozens of articles in publications and making numerous presentations at industry conferences. She has served as President of the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), Chairman of the ETA Government Relations Committee and Chairman of the ETA Certified Payments Professional Commission. She founded and is a past president of Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions (W.net), a national organization empowering women in the payments industry. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Detroit Fintech Association and Merchant Acquirers Committee.

Targan has been recognized as a Most Influential Woman in Payments, Best Lawyer in America, Michigan Super Lawyer and Dbusiness magazine Top Lawyer. She is a recipient of the ETA Committee Volunteer of the Year Award and ETA Member of the Year Award.

Targan earned a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School, where she graduated cum laude and served as associate editor of the Wayne Law Review. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University.
