Cara Newby

As the Director of Legal Recruiting & Inclusion, Cara works closely with Taft’s Chief Recruiting Officer to further efforts related to the recruitment of summer associates in Taft’s Cleveland and Detroit markets. She conducts on-campus interviews, participates in job fairs and helps plan and execute the firm’s summer program.

In addition, Cara works with Taft’s Chief Diversity Officer and the co-chairs of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee to advance the mission of being an industry leader in recruiting, hiring, and bringing together diverse attorney talent to serve our clients.  As a member of the DEI and LGBTQ+ committees, Cara provides ongoing support to further the mission and vision of these groups. Additionally she supports the Attorney and Associate of Color sub groups to provide guidance on projects and DEI directives.

Cara’s previous experience in talent, recruiting, professional development and human resource management provides a variety of experience, knowledge, and expertise to Taft.

Cara earned her B.A. in Organizational Communication and English at Western Michigan University.
