Cara Newby

Director of Legal Recruiting & Inclusion Detroit (Southfield)

Summary

As the Director of Legal Recruiting & Inclusion, Cara works closely with Taft’s Chief Recruiting Officer to further efforts related to the recruitment of summer associates in Taft’s Cleveland and Detroit markets. She conducts on-campus interviews, participates in job fairs and helps plan and execute the firm’s summer program.

In addition, Cara works with the co-chairs of the firm’s Inclusion and Opportunity Committee to advance the mission of being an industry leader in recruiting, hiring, and bringing together attorney talent to serve our clients. As a member of the Inclusion and Opportunity and LGBTQ+ committees, Cara provides ongoing support to further the mission and vision of these groups.

Cara’s previous experience in talent, recruiting, professional development and human resource management provides a variety of experience, knowledge, and expertise to Taft.

Cara earned her B.A. in Organizational Communication and English at Western Michigan University.
