In both Denver and Chicago, Charlie has gained experience in all stages of the litigation process, from pre-litigation counseling to trials and appeals. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and internal investigations, defending individuals and businesses nationwide in federal and state courts. He has tried cases, assisted in interviewing C-Suite executives in public companies as part of large internal investigations, and developed high-level case strategy that is tailored to the specific needs of each client and dispute.

Charlie understands that each client is unique and has a story to tell, so he engages with his clients to devise the specific arguments that will help them succeed. His experience includes defending Fortune 500 corporations and individuals in lawsuits and investigations brought by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Charlie also serves the communities in which he lives. His pro bono work includes representing people with limited income and representing non-profits seeking to preserve historic buildings. He also works with children and young adults who have autism to hopefully improve their lives and the lives of their family members.

• Represented a major food company in a commodities manipulation action brought by the CFTC, and the parallel class action case alleging market manipulation and monopolization.
• Represented a Fortune 100 client in a criminal investigation led by the DOJ.
• Represented a corporation in a class action lawsuit pending in the Southern District of New York alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York Labor Law.
• Represented a group of individuals in an investigation by the SEC and DOJ into the business practices of a Fortune 100 company.
• Represented a company and its executives in an arbitration related to the purchase and merger of two businesses and in which each side of the dispute alleged that they had been defrauded into entering into the deal.
• Represented individuals in partnership disputes related to the creation and operation of successful Colorado businesses.
• Represented individuals in securities litigation related to the sale of stock in a failed Colorado business.
