Summary

Hakmat is an associate in Taft’s business group, where she focuses her practice in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital transactions. She is a member of the firm’s Cleveland Corporate Transparency Act Subcommittee.

Hakmat earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. She gained valuable experience as a summer associate with Taft for two years. While in law school, Hakmat worked as a Certified Legal Intern at the Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic’s Community Development Clinic where she assisted with various transactional matters for local non-profit organizations. She also served as an Honors Fellow for Legal Writing and Constitutional Law, assisting law students develop essential academic skills.

Hakmat was a Senior Editor for the Case Western Reserve Law Review and received the Transactional Writing Award for Transactional Legal Writing and the Federal Bar Association Award for Constitutional Law I. She also received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Criminal Law, Constitutional Law I, and Article 2 Sales.

Hakmat is a Cleveland native, graduating from Lakewood High School and later earning her bachelor’s degree in political science, summa cum laude, from Cleveland State University.
