Summary
Ivan represents businesses and individuals involved in tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and various state and local tax authorities. He represents clients in all stages of tax disputes – from examinations, to administrative appeals, to litigation in the United States Tax Court, the Court of Federal Claims, and the Illinois Tax Tribunal.
Ivan also works with clients to proactively resolve tax disputes through the IRS’s Voluntary Disclosure Program, and he helps clients negotiate offers in compromise, installment agreements and settlement agreements with the IRS and with state taxing authorities.
Ivan’s practice extends to transactional tax matters, ranging from the formation of new businesses, to issuance of new equity and debt, to mergers and acquisitions. Ivan’s diverse clients have included start-up businesses, manufacturers and distributors, investment partnerships, real estate partnerships and joint ventures. Ivan is skilled in creating tailored succession plans for businesses undergoing ownership transitions.
Ivan brings a common sense approach to advising clients on tax disputes and tax planning matters, and he prides himself on delivering innovative, practical solutions that address his clients’ problems.
