James B. Young

Jamie is a corporate attorney in Taft’s Cleveland office. His practice primarily focuses on advising private equity sponsors and private companies in mergers, acquisitions, divestures, leveraged buyouts, carve-out transactions, cross-border transactions, corporate restructurings, and other complex business transactions. He additionally counsels private equity funds’ portfolio companies and private companies on corporate governance, general business law, and commercial matters.

Jamie is also experienced with advising investment fund sponsors and management teams on a variety of fund matters, including fund formation, governance, and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Taft, Jamie was an associate with a well-known regional law firm, where his practice focused on corporate matters, including securities, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and cannabis law.

Jamie earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and earned bachelor’s degrees in finance and political science from the State University of New York at Fredonia.

• Counsel to Midwest Precision Products, Inc., a manufacturer of “seatbelts for pallets,” in its sale to The Heico Companies.
• Counsel to VisTech Manufacturing Solutions, a portfolio company of Angeles Equity Partners, LLC, in connection with its add-on acquisition of Industry Products Company, a supplier of NVH solutions, primarily to automotive original equipment manufacturers.
• Counsel to Evantic, a portfolio company of Edgewater Capital Partners, in connection with its add-on acquisition of Plastic Distributors and Fabricators, LLC (PDF). PDF is a manufacturer and fabricator of high-precision, difficult to machine plastic components.
• Counsel to Evantic, a portfolio company of Edgewater Capital Partners, in connection with its acquisition of Vertec Polymers, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of highly engineered PEEK, PPS, PTFE, PFA, and other advanced polymeric materials.
• Counsel to Edgewater Capital Partners in its acquisition of the scintillation and photonic crystals business of Saint-Gobain, S.A.
• Counsel to Edgewater Capital Partners in its acquisition of AmeriWater, an industry leader in the design, manufacture, installation, and supply of water purification systems.
