Summary
Joan is a staff attorney in Taft’s Chicago office and has extensive experience litigating a diverse range of matters in both state and federal court. Prior to joining Taft, Joan practiced in-house at the Chicago Housing Authority, as well as at a mid-sized and a boutique Chicago law firm. In her prior positions, she represented municipal and religious organization clients in matters involving claims of constitutional violations, negligent supervision, breach of contract, and personal injury. Joan has consistently achieved favorable outcomes for her clients, whether through pre-suit negotiation, post-suit dispositive motions or settlements, or, if needed, prevailing at jury trials in state and federal court.
Joan earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and her B.A. in English and mathematics from Amherst College. While in law school, Joan was a judicial intern in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
