Summary

Joe is an attorney in Taft’s Columbus office and dedicates his practice to the construction and real estate development industries. He regularly represents owners, general contractors, subcontractors, specialty contractors and suppliers, construction managers, architects, engineers, developers, insurers, lenders, and sureties in various commercial, tort, and contract matters involving construction.

Joe has extensive experience handling disputes such as breaches of contract, construction defect claims, project delay claims, differing site conditions and extra work claims, insurance and surety bond claims, and professional errors and omissions claims. In addition, Joe is well-versed in navigating Ohio’s technical mechanics’ lien laws. Joe also has extensive experience with transactional matters in the construction and real estate development industries. He drafts and negotiates construction and design agreements and counsels clients on all aspects of construction and real estate improvement, including project delivery methods, risk management and avoidance, insurance and surety solutions, and dispute avoidance and resolution. Outside of the construction arena, Joe has represented clients on matters involving fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, and other business torts.

He earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in economics and political science from The Ohio State University. While in law school, Joe was actively involved with the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy, the Military Law Students Association, and was a student attorney at the Notre Dame Clinical Law Center. Prior to law school and during his time as an undergraduate, Joe served as an aircraft powertrain repairer with the Ohio Army National Guard.
