Summary
Joe represents clients on disputes involving real property, construction, contracts, and appeals. He also provides expert testimony on issues related to the performance of attorneys, including the reasonableness of attorney fees.
He began practicing law with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, where he provided support to the judges of the court on the issues presented to them in appeals. He then spent three years representing Navy commands on criminal prosecution and ship collision investigations, and, later, advising Supreme Allied Command Atlantic (SACLANT) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) personnel on operational issues.
His current clients include Colorado law firms (ethics and risk management issues), construction contractors and suppliers, small business owners (operational and governance disputes), and the Girl Scouts of Colorado (a pro bono representation). Joe has argued cases before the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals.
In addition to his practice responsibilities, Joe serves as an Assistant General Counsel and Loss Prevention Partner for Taft, advising the firm’s lawyers on ethics, risk management, and strategy issues. He has litigated fee collection disputes and professional liability claims.
