Summary

Kirby is an experienced transactional lawyer who focuses on mergers, acquisitions, and other complex corporate transactions. He also advises public and private companies on all matters of corporate law, and serves as outside general counsel to private equity firms and businesses across a wide array of industries. His expertise ranges from representing early-stage companies in entity formation and equity financings, to navigating complex commercial and stockholder disputes, to advising public companies on joint ventures and international M&A transactions.

In addition to his corporate practice, Kirby practices appellate litigation before state and federal courts of appeals. At the federal level, he has represented clients in cases before the Third, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, and D.C. Circuit Courts of Appeals.

Prior to joining Taft, Kirby was a partner in a national law firm, where he practiced in the corporate/M&A and appellate groups and was honored as its Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. His involvement in the business and legal community includes serving as the current Chair of the Business Law Section of the Kentucky Bar Association.

Kirby is a graduate of Harvard Law School. He received his undergraduate degree in economics and business from Westmont College.
