Larry D. Williams, Jr., PhD

Larry is a trusted intellectual property attorney registered with the USPTO. He advises clients on strategic patent portfolio planning and management; domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution; infringement, validity, and clearance issues; as well as other phases of securing and exploiting intellectual property. He also has extensive experience in counseling with regard to freedom-to-operate for clients’ key technologies. Larry’s clients include small, medium, and large chemical, pharmaceutical, medical diagnostic, and medical device innovators, and he possesses a deep understanding of these industries.

Prior to joining Taft, Larry worked at both national full-service and boutique intellectual property law firms.

Larry earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Widener University School of Law and earned his Ph.D. in organic and medicinal chemistry from Virginia Tech. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Wright State University.

Active in his profession, Larry recently served as a vice chair of the U.S. Patent Law Committee for the Intellectual Property Owners’ Association and currently serves on the CincyIP board of directors. In addition, he is a board member of the Northern Kentucky University Research Foundation and participated in class 22 of the Cincinnati Academy of Leadership for Lawyers (CALL).
