Summary

With over 25 years experience, Mike focuses his practice on labor and preventative practices and general employment litigation and counseling. He has significant experience representing clients in a wide range of industries, including energy and utilities, manufacturing, metals and coatings, healthcare, automotive, financial services, retail, food and beverage, packaging, and hospitality.

Mike brings extensive experience in labor law, assisting employers with union organizing attempts, representing them before the National Labor Relations Board and federal courts, and negotiating collective bargaining agreements. He also advises on labor negotiations strategy, defends employers in labor arbitrations, and provides counsel on strike planning and unlawful secondary boycotts.

He provides comprehensive employment law counsel, advising clients on minimizing legal exposure, preventive management and employee training. He defends clients in administrative and legal forums on matters including discrimination (race, age, sex, national origin, disability and sexual harassment), retaliation, the Family and Medical Leave Act, whistleblower claims, employment contracts, the Fair Labor Standards Act and noncompete issues.

Mike frequently speaks and writes on labor and employment law matters for businesses as well as educational institutions and is a regular contributing editor to the authoritative law treatise, The Developing Labor Law, and its annual Cumulative Supplements, published by the American Bar Association. He is certified as a Labor & Employment Law Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association.
