Ryan G. Rudich

Ryan has a diverse environmental practice that includes representing companies in complex environmental litigation, government enforcement actions, and CERCLA cost recovery and contribution cases. He represents clients in state and federal courts and before environmental agencies in Illinois and across the United States.

He regularly counsels companies on compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations, assists clients with internal investigations, and provides guidance on responding to information requests. Ryan has worked extensively for clients in the manufacturing, waste, recycling, and environmental services industries.

In addition, Ryan advises companies on environmental issues that arise in real estate and corporate transactions.

Ryan’s insurance practice focuses on coverage disputes involving environmental liabilities, including historical groundwater and soil contamination and coal ash remediation obligations. He has successfully litigated cases on behalf of both insurers and policyholders.

Ryan also advises clients on a range of energy issues, including power purchase agreements, renewable energy project development, and legislative matters.

Prior to entering private practice, Ryan served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office litigating environmental enforcement actions in Illinois circuit courts and before the Illinois Pollution Control Board.

In that role, he gained experience working under an array of environmental statutory regimes, including the Clean Air Act (CAA), the Clean Water Act (CWA), and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). In addition to litigating, Ryan represented the Illinois Attorney General’s Office on legislative matters related to energy and the environment.
