Spencer S. Cowan

Spencer is an attorney in Taft’s litigation practice group, representing businesses and individuals at the trial court and appellate levels. He has experience in a range of matters including consumer class actions, contract disputes, bankruptcy, and statutory enforcement actions.

Prior to joining Taft, Spencer was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John B. Nalbandian on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and an associate in the litigation group at Shearman & Sterling LLP in Washington, D.C. Spencer earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was the executive editor of the Journal of Law and Politics, and his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College.
