Violation of Specific Safety Requirement

Injured workers in Ohio are permitted under law to seek additional compensation under their workers’ compensation claim if their injury occurred as a direct result of an employer’s violation of a specific safety code adopted by the Industrial Commission.

This punitive award is assessed directly against an employer and the penalty may range from 15% to 50% of the maximum workers’ compensation award established by law.
